Olumide LALA

Olumide Lala is a Capital Markets Development Specialist with diverse leadership experience in Climate Finance & Sustainability, Operational Efficiency, Strategy, Policy Advisory, Business Development, Client Engagement, Capacity Building & Training and Change Management.

 

As Programme Manager for African Markets, Olumide is responsible for driving the Green Bonds Debt Capital Markets Development Programme, with a particular focus on climate finance, policy advisory, strategy development, market structure, investor & regulatory engagement, capacity building and training. His recent accomplishments include:

(1) New Product Development,

(2) Development of the CBI strategy for implementing Green Bonds Market in West, East & Southern Africa with special focus on Nigeria and Kenya;

(3) Facilitation of Green Bonds training & capacity development sessions.

The latter comprised roundtable discussions, workshops, presentations, conferences in Ghana, Benin, Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. They engaged potential issuers, institutional investors and regulators to explore and reduce potential entry barriers to Africa Markets

 

Before joining CBI, Olumide Lala worked at the Nigerian Stock Exchange as Head of Transformation and Change, where he successfully executed a number of market development initiatives. Prior to this, he held various senior Capital Market roles in the UK working at a number of international organisations.

 

Olumide has had many ‘firsts’ during a career that spans almost 30 years.  These include:

  • the first pan-European Buyside Only Crossing Network, which traded 3000 securities on 14 European Markets
  • introduction of the FIX Trading Protocol to the Nigerian Capital Market to unable Straight Through Processing
  • managing the introduction & implementation of Market Making & Securities Lending in the Nigerian Equity Market
  • Currently drives the development of the Nigerian Green Bonds Market, which recently led to the certification of the first Corporate Green Bond in Africa

 

Olumide comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience of Product Development, Governance & Risk Management, Business Process Re-engineering and Stakeholder Management within the Nigerian Capital Market.

 

He is a senior Change and Programme Consultant with over 25 years industry experience in Capital Markets and IT/Business Consulting.  Olumide is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIBN) and member of the Institute of Directors (IoD), Nigeria.

 

Olumide holds a B.Sc degree in Accounting from the University of Hull, an M.Sc in Business Systems Analysis and Design from the London City University and an MBA from Imperial College, London
